Film Showing and Interview with the Italian Writer Pietro Spirito

On Monday, November 19th at 4 PM in Hagerty Hall 351 there will be a film show of Fredo Valla’s 2007 documentary Medusa: Storie di uomini sul fondo. The film, which considers the importance of memory and reflects on the futility of war, lasts for 62 minutes, and has English subtitles. Based on Pietro Spirito’s 2007 novel, Un corpo sul fondo, Medusa memorializes the Italian sailors who perished after three nights alive on the bottom of the sea when their submarine was sunk in the Adriatic off the coast of Pola in 1942. Pietro Spirito will be present at the showing to discuss the film and answer questions. Sponsored by the Department of French and Italian.
