Sarah Mikati, a fourth-year honors student from Kent, Ohio, is triple majoring in journalism, French and international studies with a specialization in Middle East studies. She is spending the remainder of 2016 in France doing field research for her honors thesis on the Nov. 13, 2015, Paris attacks and how the attacks have impacted the lives of French-Maghreb Muslims. She says, “I've known since middle school that I wanted to be a foreign correspondent in the Middle East.” 

Why did you pick Ohio State?

There were a lot of things that drew me to Ohio State. For one, growing up in a relatively small town with a lack of diversity, I loved the social aspect of the size and diversity of Ohio State and Columbus. Academically, I knew Ohio State was a smart choice because of how well rounded it is (as in, if I were to ever change my mind about what I wanted to study, I would still be set with a quality education), and because it's one of the top research institutions in the nation.
