  1. How do I declare a major?
    Contact Jodi Obert (Cunz 248; 292-4938) in the French and Italian Department's main office. She will give you information about the major in French or Italian, help you fill out the appropriate forms, and assign you an advisor. Remember that you will also need to declare your major at the ASC office in 141 Denney Hall (247-7194).
  2. When should I declare a major?
    Today! We recommend that you declare your major and see your advisor as soon as possible so that you can organize a program of study that will permit you to finish your degree in a timely manner.
  3. When do I fill out the major program form?
    Today! Start now and update it as you progress in your studies.
  4. How do I declare a minor?
    We recommend that you contact the minor’s advisor for French, Professor Diane Birckbichler, or Italian, Heather Webb and fill out a minor program form. You will need to see your College advisor for the appropriate forms to fill out for graduation.
  5. Who is my advisor?
    When you contact Jodi Obert to declare a major, you will be assigned an advisor.
  6. How do I contact my advisor and how often?
    Regular contact with your advisor is essential for staying on track and timely graduation. All advisors' office hours and contact information are available on our Web site and in Cunz 248. You may call 262-4938 for more information.
  7. How do I complete a major?
    Information about the courses required for a major in French in Language and Literature, Language and Culture, French for the Professions and French Studies or a major in Italian can be found in the Undergraduate Handbook. You can obtain a paper copy of the handbook in the main office of the Department of French and Italian in 200 Hagerty Hall.

    Information about the courses required for a minor in French or Italian can be found in the Undergraduate Handbook. You can obtain a paper copy of the handbook in the main office of the Department of French and Italian in 200 Hagerty Hall.
