NIAF Congressional Fellowship

Every fall semester, The National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) places outstanding Italian American college students, graduate students and recent graduates in offices of members of the Italian American Congressional Delegation (IACD) to encourage and support the next generation of Italian American leadership.

Five students and/or recent graduates will be selected as NIAF Congressional Fellows and will travel to Washington D.C., to work in a Congressional office from September 5 – December 14, 2018. NIAF will award fellows with a stipend of $1000 to aid with travel and living expenses while in Washington. Fellows will also receive training at NIAF headquarters and will be invited to participate in NIAF events throughout the fall, including networking events, NIAF Public Policy Forums, and our 43rd Anniversary Gala Weekend from October 12 – 14.

NIAF is non-partisan and serves as an important voice for Italian Americans in Washington, DC. The Foundation works closely with Congress, the White House, the Department of State, the U.S. Embassy in Rome, and the Italian Embassy in Washington to promote Italian American heritage and serve as a bipartisan educational foundation.

ASC Undergraduate Research Scholarship (URS) and the International Research Grant for Undergraduates

Students will compete for scholarships awarded in amounts ranging from $250 to $12,000.  University regulations require that the funds be used to meet tuition and fee expenses, with any remaining amount available directly to recipients (provided they have not already exceeded the maximum allowable amount for financial aid).

The deadline for applications and project advisor recommendations is 5:00PM on Monday, February 4, 2019, and selections will be made by late April.  The Honors Committee does not require that applicants be members of the Arts and Sciences Honors Program; however, the committee generally gives preference to students who are candidates for graduation with research distinction or with honors research distinction, because they have demonstrated the sort of academic ability and commitment which indicates the likelihood of success in completing a major research project.  If you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Arts and Sciences Honors Office at (614) 292-5104.
