A mother, professor, author, and devoted yogi, Professor Heller brings medieval France to life in the digital age.

French was my language of choice in high school and college, but you wouldn’t know that today–I can (regrettably) barely say more than hello and my name. My lack of speaking fluent French aside, I chose it because I loved it: the way it sounded, the eloquence and the history of the culture itself. I’m not alone in this love for French; Professor Sarah-Grace Heller also shares that same passion, with her specialization being French and Occitan medieval literature.

Having hailed from another Midwest state—Minnesota—she’s been teaching at Ohio State since fall of 2001. Professor Heller is also an acclaimed author, having written the book Fashion in Medieval France. While her area of focus is quite specific, her advice to students is inspiring, encouraging and spans across all majors.
