The French and Italian Graduate Student Association (FIGSA) invites you to participate in an event with guest Dr. Ting Deng and drink espresso.
Dr. Deng will discuss her book Chinese Espresso: Contested Race and Convivial Space in Contemporary Italy, exploring how Chinese immigrants running Italian coffee bars reshape ideas of race, identity, and belonging. Drawing on ethnographic fieldwork, she examines everyday interactions in these convivial spaces and highlights how migration transforms familiar symbols of Italian culture.
