Other Study Abroad Scholarships
The Ohio State University offers many study abroad scholarship opportunities. The following are some of those available. Please check the deadlines for these scholarships.

The Center for Languages, Literatures and Cultures is offerings several scholarship opportunities to Undergraduate students. These scholarships enable students to travel abroad or to other institutions to do research, improve their language skills and learn about the languages and cultures of other countries
- NSEP Boren Scholarships funds study abroad by U.S. Undergraduate students in world regions critical to U.S. interests. The Boren Scholarships provide up to $25,000 for undergraduate students to study in countries that are generally underrepresented in study abroad.
- Huntington International Fellowship: The Huntington National Bank pledged over $300,000 to The Ohio State University Campaign in the form of an endowed fund to benefit humanities students interested in international business and world languages. Applications for the fellowship program are now available in the Center for Languages, Literatures and Cultures.
- ALI Intermediate/ Advanced study abroad scholarship: The Loann Crane Endowment will provide five $1250 scholarships for Study Abroad at the intermediate or above level during Spring semester, and five $1250 scholarships for summer study abroad at the same level.
- ALI Target Language Internships/Service Learning Scholarships: The Advanced Language Institute will award a number of scholarships to select undergraduate students participating in an Internship or Service Learning experience in country or abroad in the target language at intermediate or advanced levels. Selected students will be awarded up to $2,000 for paid experiences and up to $5,000 for unpaid experiences.
The Office of International Affairs provides a comprehensive list of study abroad scholarships available across campus, including the Wolfe and Francille M. Firebaugh scholarships offered by OIA.
The College of Arts & Sciences awards approximately 1 million dollars in scholarships to undergraduate students who are pursuing a major in the arts and sciences and are currently enrolled on the Columbus campus. They include merit and need-based scholarships, scholarships that support research and creative activity, and scholarships that support global education. You can review options through the Center for Languages, Literatures, and Cultures website.
The Mershon Center for International Studies offers grants of varying amounts to OSU students for research and study abroad.
The U.S. Student Fulbright Program provides one-year grants for graduate study, research, or teaching assistantships abroad. Each year, over 1,900 grants are awarded for study in over 155 foreign countries.
The Gilman Scholarship provides funding for study abroad to students receiving a Federal Pell Grant as part of their OSU financial aid package.
Every fall semester, The National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) places outstanding Italian American college students, graduate students and recent graduates in offices of members of the Italian American Congressional Delegation (IACD) to encourage and support the next generation of Italian American leadership.
Students will compete for scholarships awarded in amounts ranging from $250 to $12,000. University regulations require that the funds be used to meet tuition and fee expenses, with any remaining amount available directly to recipients (provided they have not already exceeded the maximum allowable amount for financial aid).
The Honors Committee does not require that applicants be members of the Arts and Sciences Honors Program; however, the committee generally gives preference to students who are candidates for graduation with research distinction or with honors research distinction, because they have demonstrated the sort of academic ability and commitment which indicates the likelihood of success in completing a major research project.
