Landscape Stories: Art and Ecology in Siena provides students opportunities to refine artistic, sustainable, and intercultural skills in exploring the cityscapes and cultural heritage narratives of innovation in Siena. This art and ecology course hosted by the Siena Art Institute (SART) features studio assignments and visits to cultural institutions, sustainability initiatives, discussions and critiques. Topics of exploration include walking, drawing, collecting and other forms of "mapping" in redefining the relationship between an evolving landscape, people, and history. The course will focus on aesthetic and conceptual approaches to walks, the environment, agro-ecology, land ethic, and artistic expression.
COURSES AND CREDITS: Admitted participants are required to register in 3 hours of Art/Italian 4799 for summer session1. ELIGIBILITY:OPEN to students from ALL majors. Preference given to Art students, Italian and Romance Studies. Good academic standing.
