Volunteer as a medial interpreter in Columbus

Medical Interpreter

Vocalize Columbus is a growing student organization that is exploring how to expand access to free medical interpreter services for Columbus free clinics. Health disparities are a huge issue for the immigrant Columbus population, especially due to the language barrier when navigating the healthcare system. Many of these immigrants are financially vulnerable, seeking healthcare through free clinics that cannot provide adequate language services. Along with a few other students, Lia Gomez-Perez started Vocalize Columbus with a mission to improve health outcomes & patient experience for limited English proficiency (LEP) individuals.

Vocalize Columbus is currently hoping to recruit OSU student volunteers to participate in the program, where they will be trained/certified in medical interpretation and then volunteer at free clinics in need. As the training is language neutral and the Columbus immigrant population is linguistically diverse, they are looking for any and all languages.

If you have any questions or would like to participate, please contact Lia Gomez-Perez.
