Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. The New Horror, a Halloween Panel

The New Horror
October 21, 2019
5:30 pm - 8:00 pm
The Torpedo Room at The Gateway Film Cemter

Are we in an age of new horror? To kick off the Halloween season, please join us for a conversation about three recent horror movies from around the world! We will be talking about how these film depict important sociocultural issues today like racism, religion, and family in Jordan Peele's Us (2019), Jennifer Kant's The Babadook (2014), and Luca Guadagnino's Suspiria (2018). As Jordan Peele once said, "all great horror has a social message of some sort...it taps into something we're suppressing." Our speakers work on horror cinema in their fields of study and come from humanities departments across Ohio State (The Department of Theatre; The French and Italian Department; and The Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Department). Seating is limited and first come, first serve. See you at the Film Center!
