We send an incredible group of people off into the world each year from the Department of French & Italian. May 3 was our annual reception to celebrate our FRIT graduates with family, friends, and faculty. Though we are sad to see them leave, we know our graduates leave Ohio State having learned valuable skills designed to help them achieve their goals. From language learning to intercultural competence, FRIT graduates are ready to break barriers in academia, government, public health and policy, medicine, publishing, and so many other places. We wish each of them well and invite them to share their stories with us as they continue to unknown and exciting places with Ohio State's network and support system at their backs!
A special thank you to our keynote speaker, Julia Bonafede (pictured to the right). Julia is the epitome of what the Department of French & Italian looks for in a student. She is passionate, driven, compassionate, and observant! Speaking about her study abroad experiences in Italy, Julia used the example of summoning the courage to speak with her host family's patriarch in his native Italian to demonstrate how language competency builds lasting and meaningful relationship. Julia encouraged her fellow graduates to always seize those chances to use their language skills to broaden their horizons and brighten the lives of those around them.
Julia took a dual degree in Italian and Air Transportation this year and already has a job ready to go as soon as she leaves campus. She will undoubtedly do amazing things as she jets off to all the opportunities available to her! Congratulations, Julia!
Félicitations & Congratulazioni!
