- PhD, University of Paris-Saclay
I am a tenured faculty in the department of Molecular Genetics at OSU. I received my Ph.D. in the field of Genetics from the University of Paris-Saclay (France) in 1999. Following a post-doctoral training at UCLA, I joined OSU as a faculty engaged in research and teaching in 2006. I was born in Africa, raised in the Caribbean, educated in France, and had international experience in Canada as a high schooler, in England, the West Indies, Finland, and Japan as an undergraduate and graduate student, in the US as a post-doctoral researcher and in Norway, Mexico, India, and Belgium as a faculty member. Through my life experience, I have garnered considerable knowledge of the international science and education environment and gained an in-depth understanding of its complexity Since 2006, I have used my global experience in my formative years and devoted considerable effort to promote the international component of student education at OSU. I spearheaded several international educational initiatives in STEM now grouped under an umbrella program called STILSA which aims to provide curriculum-anchored mobility experiences to students. In 2025, STILSA implemented FRESCA (FREnch and STEM students Abroad), a joint educational initiative with the department of French and Italian Studies. FRESCA aims to develop an accessible path to credit earning internship opportunities in French-speaking academic and non-academic settings for undergraduate students with a dual interest in STEM and the French language.
