Prof. Marx-Scouras wins Ratner Teaching Award

Professor French Danielle Marx-Scouras has won a brand new and very significant teaching award, The Arts and Humanities Ratner Distinguished Teaching Award, which "recognizes faculty for developing new courses, original materials, and/or innovative methods and venues for delivery, as well as for making a difference in students' educations, lives, and careers." Arts and Humanities Dean Mark Shanda, Assistant Dean Garett Heysel, and Professor of French Diane Birckbichler surprised Professor Marx-Scouras in class on Tuesday with the award (see photos). We in the department knew that Professor Marx-Scouras was a perfect candidate for the award when it was first announced, and we're very happy to see that the selection committee recognized this fact as well.
