French Literary and Visual Texts
Students improve reading, writing, and speaking skills by analyzing and discussing full-length French literary works and visual texts-such as paintings, fashion, photographs, and films from the Middle ages to the present.

Introduction to French for the Professions
An introduction to business French with emphasis on basic business terminology, commercial correspondence, similarities and differences in business transactions, and international procedures.

French for International Studies
Develop specific language skills and cultural competences to work in broad field of international studies in the US, France, and other Francophone regions. Learn about relations among French-speaking nations and regions, about int'l Francophone organizations, and about current events in the French-speaking world. FRENCH 3503
Medical French
Designed especially for students interested in pursuing a variety of health professions and wishing to add value to their expertise in healthcare fields. Students learn how to interact effectively in French with patients and patients' families from various cultural backgrounds, and/or to practice their profession in a Francophone context, at a mid- to high-intermediate level of French.
Prereq: French 2101.01 or 2101.61.

Topics in French and Francophone Studies
In-depth exploration of a theme, issue, or question in French and/or Francophone Studies broadly conceived. Topics vary. Taught in French.

French for the Professions Internship
Supervised training in international (French-speaking) business.
Prereq: 3501 (406) or permission of instructor. Notify Department chair no later than six months or one semester prior to start of internship. Not open to students with 6 cr hrs for 690. Repeatable to a maximum of 6 cr hrs or 6 completions. This course is graded S/U. FL Admis Cond course.

Advanced French Grammar
Systematic review of French grammar with composition and other exercises based on contemporary writers; modern tendencies in syntactic analysis.

French Center of Excellence Colloquium
Students will attend lectures and discussions organized around the visits of four to six French or Francophone writers and scholars invited by the Department of French and Italian's Center of Excellence each semester. Students will learn about the contemporary artistic and intellectual landscape of the French-speaking world and meet those who are currently shaping it.

French Reading for Research I
