If you're thinking about majoring or minoring in one of our programs, the best place to start is by talking to an advisor. An advisor will help you discuss your academic interests, talk about the the requirements of the major or minor, and walk you through actually declaring the program.
Your first contact is the person who can help you answer questions such as "Should I major in Italian?" or "How will minoring in French enhance my career opportunities?" A meeting with your first contact will help you answer those questions, as well as plan your program, a study abroad experience, and potential courses.
For French, reach out to Jennifer Willging.
For Italian or Romance Studies, reach out to Janice Aski.

Students must have received a B- or higher in their previous French course to enroll in French Individualized Instruction courses.
Progress is sequential from one credit hour to the next, with proficiency at the level of 80% on oral and written tests required for advancement. Regular activities such as conversations, workbook exercises, and self-tests are part of the program. Writing assignments are also required at the 1103 and 2101 levels.
