Kate Schlosser has demonstrated Shared Values by: curating an enriching student experience with Conversations Unbound in French 1103 that highlights intercultural competence; helping create a final project assignment (the Prix Artis project) that allows students in all sections of 1103 to practice community building, intercultural understanding, and practical learning; fostering inclusive learning environments in her classrooms.
Dr. Beth Bishop:
As 1103 coordinator, Kate does all that she can to ensure that her instructors are maximizing the students’ experiences with various course components, especially Conversations Unbound. She also goes above and beyond in reaching out to students with extracurricular opportunities in the Department.
Samanta Buffa is a Graduate Associate in the Italian Studies PhD program. Samanta currently teaches in the Italian basic language program and is working on her research and exams preparation. FRIT members had the following comments to share about Samanta:
Professor April Weintritt:
Samanta Buffa has demonstrated the Shared Values of Excellence and Impact as well as Care and Compassion by stimulating the creativity, critical thinking and problem solving of the students in Italian 2102, Contemporary Italian Society, in Autumn 2023. Samanta worked immensely hard as a teacher and a leader, showing persistence and commitment in a challenging moment of transition in language learning for these students. They are so fortunate to have had such a compassionate, supportive, and empowering instructor!
